Every bite and a journey into the mysterious world of fragrances … the best I have tasted in the border island of Leros—an island that lately is being tested greatly.

A beautiful island that makes you want to discover it. Nice people, good hearted who give emphasis on culinary and cultural events. Their kitchen has Italian influences and multicultural flavors…

A very easy recipe to prepare, given to Emvolos’ friends.

Place in the mixer bowl the vegetable butter and sugar and whisk vigorously.

The amount is not so specific but we need so much flour as is necessary for the dough to become pliable.  Grandmothers say that we need as much flour, until the dough is pliable.

Once the dough is ready, wash your hands with wine and mold in braids or in a shape you love. Place the braids on a baking pan lined with greaseproof paper.

Bake in a well preheated oven at 180 °C for 25-30 minutes.

Remove the pan from the oven and let the braids to “cool” without covering them to stay crisp.

To keep them crisp, we place the braids in a metal box.
