Η κυβέρνηση έκανε μία πολύ ξεκάθαρη επιλογή. Προστάτεψε την υγεία, τη ζωή των πολιτών υποτάσσοντας σε αυτό τον υπέρτατο σκοπό τον οικονομικό της σχεδιασμό. Ενίσχυσε το Εθνικό Σύστημα Υγείας και στήριξε τους εργαζόμενους και τις επιχειρήσεις. Με άλλα λόγια δαπανήσαμε συνειδητά πολλούς πόρους προκειμένου καταρχάς να υπερασπιστούμε το υπέρτατο αγαθό που δεν είναι άλλο από την προστασία της υγείας των πολιτών, τόνισε ο πρωθυπουργός Κυριάκος Μητσοτάκης στη συζήτηση στη Βουλή για τις οικονομικές επιπτώσεις της υγειονομικής κρίσης στη χώρα. “The government made a very clear choice; it protected the health and lives of the citizens, subordinating its economic planning to this supreme goal,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Thursday, addressing the Greek parliament during a plenary debate on the economic repercussions of the pandemic.
