Petsas: ‘We hope the differences will be bridged at Thursday’s Eurogroup’
Η Ελλάδα θα αναπτύξει μέχρι το καλοκαίρι ένα δημοσιονομικό δίχτυ προστασίας της οικονομίας που φτάνει τα 24 δισ. ευρώ Πρόσθεσε ότι επιπλέον υλοποιείται ένα πακέτο στήριξης της ρευστότητας των επιχειρήσεων προκειμένου να αντεπεξέλθουν στις δυσκολίες αυτών των ημερών, το οποίο ανέρχεται περίπου στα 10 δισεκατομμύρια ευρώ.Ο κ. Πέτσας υπογράμμισε ότι «η Ελλάδα θα αναπτύξει μέχρι το καλοκαίρι ένα δημοσιονομικό δίχτυ προστασίας της οικονομίας ύψους 14 δισεκατομμυρίων ευρώ περίπου και θα θέσει σε κίνηση έναν μοχλό ρευστότητας περίπου 10 δισεκ. ευρώ ώστε η υγειονομική κρίση να αφήσει όσο το δυνατόν μικρότερο αποτύπωμα στην πραγματική οικονομία. Ένα συνολικό πακέτο ύψους 24 δισεκ. ευρώ δηλαδή περίπου 13% του ΑΕΠ του 2019».
The major issue of the day is the Eurogroup meeting that is reconvening on Thursday, said government spokesperson Stelios Petsas at a press briefing. He underlined that, so far, no agreement had been reached for a solution that will guarantee a swift and strong recovery of the eurozone economy but “we hope that the differences will be bridged”. He said the plan envisions measures of up to 540 billion euro and is based on three pillars: Approximately 100 billion euros for the support of labour from the European Commission programme Sure, roughly 200 billion euros in financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to inject liquidity into the economy and finally, 240 billion euros – amounting to approximately 2 percent of each state member’s GDP – from the ESM. He noted that, regarding the ESM, the sole condition accepted by the majority of the member-states is a compliance with European treaties and for the money to be channeled toward the battle against the coronavirus pandemic without further terms, conditions or restrictions.The government spokesman also noted that Greece’s positions are known and have been set out by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in his joint letter with eight other country leaders. ert/ana-mpa
